The Memphis Movement

The Memphis movement, which flourished from 1981 to 1988 in Milan, Italy, was a vibrant protest against the neutral, understated functionalism of modernism. It aimed to evoke emotion through bold design choices, emphasizing form over function. Characterized by simple geometric shapes, flat bright colors, and graphic patterns like black-and-white stripes and abstract squiggles, Memphis celebrated creativity and playfulness.

Design was created in Adobe Illustrator and text was added in Adobe InDesign.
